Forbes Hill Montessori School

Runs a School Year Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten Program

Serving families in the Quincy, Milton, Dorchester, and surrounding Towns

From Monday to Friday

8:30am to 3:00pm

Starting in  September and ending in  early June

Children must be 3 years old to start the Montessori preschool program

In a Montessori classroom preschool and kindergarten children work alongside each other in a very natural learning environment. The younger children learn from observing the older children, and the older children reinforce their skills and their confidence, by teaching the younger children. Each preschool child works at their own pace and with Montessori activities that interest them. The Montessori teacher/guide moves quietly around the classroom, giving individual lessons, as they are needed. The Montessori classroom is calm and the preschool children are all happily engaged in work.

At the Forbes Hill Montessori School in Quincy, we take great care in developing the whole preschool child. Activities such as yoga, art, music and dance are on offer on a daily basis for those who are interested. At the end of our morning's work, we then go outside to play in the fresh air before having lunch. This is then followed by nap/quiet activities, and ending with outdoor play before going home.

Taking care of our Montessori environment is important to us and our preschool strives to be as environmentally friendly as possible. The Forbes Hill Montessori School never buys paper for art projects. Instead, we cut up used tissue boxes, old envelopes, pasta boxes, etc. Newsletters and other information is always emailed to our preschool families. The hand-soaps that we use at the Forbes Hill Montessori School are all made from natural ingredients. This also protects little preschool hands from harsh, drying chemicals. These are just a few ways in which we strive to educate our little ones and their families on how to be more mindful in the care of our planet.

Please see below, to learn a little about our main subject areas of the Montessori preschool classroom.

Our gallery section will also show you more photos of our Montessori preschool children at work and at play.

Baking during the Montessori Preschool Day

Preschool children love to help and here at the Forbes Hill Montessori School in Quincy, they are given every opportunity to "do it for themselves". They learn how to take care of their own needs and their Montessori environment. They dress themselves for outdoor play, clean up after snack, sweep the floor, water the plants, rake the leaves, dust the shelves etc. In doing so, these preschool children gain independence, take pride in keeping their Montessori preschool clean, and also learn how to work as a team.
